I provide a complete architectural service, from initial design and planning through to building control and construction.

At the outset of every project, it’s essential for me to understand your overall goal - what you want to achieve and, just as importantly, why. Your ideas are always valued and welcomed. However, it’s equally important to take a step back and review the project’s core objectives. This ensures that all potential solutions are fully explored and that the most appropriate design solution is identified, balancing both your aspirations and the project budget.

All designs are developed using a detailed 3D model of both the existing building or site and the proposed scheme. This ensures an accurate understanding of the design proposals, spatial relationships, and material choices.

Design information can be presented in a variety of formats, including 2D plans and material textured elevations, static 3D views, and animated walkthroughs. The 3D model can also be exported and emailed, allowing you to explore the proposals and review the design at your own pace.

  • The process begins with an initial meeting to discuss your proposed plans and to gain a clear understanding of the project objectives and budget. I will then review the proposals for feasibility, advising on any apparent planning or construction implications and highlighting alternative solutions that may be worth considering. Following this, a fee quotation will be prepared and issued for your consideration and appointment.

    Once appointed, I will carry out, or commission if appropriate, any necessary surveys to inform the development of initial sketch designs.

    Sketch designs and design options will then be prepared and presented for discussion. This stage allows the brief to be refined and ensures that the emerging design solution fully meets your requirements before progressing further.

  • The design and drawing package is developed to planning submission stage, with all required supporting information collated. Any additional design considerations or alternative options identified at this stage will be discussed with you, allowing the design solution to be refined further in response to your feedback.

    I will submit the planning application on your behalf and liaise with the local planning authority as required throughout the process.

  • Once planning approval has been obtained, the drawing package is developed to tender and building control stage. Detailed technical information is produced to support building control approval and to enable accurate construction quotations to be obtained.

    At this stage, any additional consultants required for the project are appointed, such as a structural engineer to provide structural design and calculations. Where appropriate, a quantity surveyor can also be commissioned to prepare a detailed cost plan and project budget.

    I can advise on the selection of suitable consultants and construction contractors, and liaise directly with them on your behalf to coordinate information and respond to any technical or design queries.

  • During the construction process, I remain available to respond to any queries that arise and can attend site as required.

    Where requested, I can also provide site inspection services, including evaluating workmanship and attending site meetings, to help ensure the project is delivered in accordance with the design intent and building control standards.
